Join The Jacksonville Magazine at the second annual Jacksonville Lantern Parade!
Where: Meet at the Riverside Artist Square, walk along the riverwalk, end at The Landing for music and fireworks
When: February 16, starts at 7 p.m.|
What: Lantern Parade – join thousands of people as we walk the riverwalk and light up downtown
Why: Because it’s fun and FREE!
The second annual Jacksonville Lantern Parade presented by VyStar Credit Union is set for Saturday, February 16. The parade route runs from the Riverside Artist Square under the Fuller Warren Bridge and continues down the St. Johns River to The Jacksonville Landing. The Parade itself begins at 7 p.m. and concludes with a Downtown fireworks show at 9 p.m. at The Landing. Plus, enjoy live music by Let’s Ride Brass Band on the Sleiman Riverfront Stage from 7:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Prior to the official start, participants are invited to come to the starting line and join in the fun with live music, kids games, food trucks and more. There also will be a kids band playing adjacent to the Riverside YMCA and music presented at the riverfront stage at The Jacksonville Landing.
The illuminated celebration of creativity, kids and the St. Johns River is free and open to the public. All we ask is that participants bring something that glows, twinkles or shines. Last year, more than 2,000 people turned out to kick off what we believe will become one of the city’s signature annual events—a glowing display of color, light, music and movement that lights up the heart of Jacksonville.
Don’t know how to make a lantern? No problem! There are workshops around town including on at the Art Center at The Landing. Click HERE for info.
